In recent years, the popularity of the floor heating has increased at breakneck speed. Especially the durability and the lack of radiators on the wall seem to be the reason for this. Beautiful of course, but can such a heating in the floor also be combined with a beautiful PVC floor as you envisage and where should you take this into account? In this article we are happy to explain to you every detail. It's that easy!
What types of floors can I choose from?
Perhaps a bit of an open door, but if you are going to orient yourself on a new floor for your home, it is important to first look at which types of floors are available at all. At Solza we have a wide choice of types of floors within our range. When looking at the combination of a floor with a floor heating, both wood, PVC flooring and laminate flooring are suitable for this. However, it can differ per floor whether it is suitable for underfloor heating and there are therefore exceptions.
What to look for when choosing floor for underfloor heating?
Not everyone buys a floor suitable for the underfloor heating every day, which is why we have already collected some points that we advise you to take into account.
Let you inquire
Firstly, it is always important to be properly informed when it comes to the suitability of a floor in combination with underfloor heating. At Solza we generally indicate this with the different products. This can be by means of, for example, an icon that can also be found on the packaging of the floors. Surely you doubt whether a floor is suitable for this? Do not hesitate to send us a message about this. We are happy to help.
Warm Resistance
Also it is necessary to take into account the heat resistance of the floor that you have in mind. The lower the heat resistance of a floor, the better the floor can pass the heat generated by the underfloor heating. Of course this is desirable as this will warm up your home faster and with less effort. The heat resistance of a floor is indicated by m2 K/W. When looking at a maximum heat resistance that a floor can have for a floor heating, this is generally 0.15 m 2 K/W. However, a floor with a resistance lower than 0.1 m 2 K/W is even better suited for a floor heating.
Thickness of the floor
In addition, the thickness of the floor is also a factor in the overall picture. The thickness of the floor also determines how easily the floor allows any heat to pass through. For this reason, a PVC floor is generally very suitable for underfloor heating. Incidentally, laminate floors or wooden floors are also suitable in some cases, only the thickness of the floor often rises somewhat.
PVC floors with underfloor heating
Are you out of the question that you want to go for a PVC floor with underfloor heating? Then there are also some aspects to take into account.
What kind of PVC floor with underfloor heating?
Also within the PVC range, different types of PVC flooring can be chosen. For example, there are floors where you can work with a click system, but also floors that need to be glued to the surface. Do you choose click PVC? Then it is necessary to place a subfloor. Make sure that the subfloor is also well suited for the combination with underfloor heating. If you do not use a suitable floor here, there is a chance that all the advantages of a PVC floor with a low heat resistance will be lost. Do you opt for an adhesive PVC floor with underfloor heating? Then a subfloor is not needed.
Advantages PVC floor and floor heating
Like any other floor, a PVC floor with underfloor heating has its advantages. WE have already listed these for you.
No subfloor needed
If you choose an adhesive PVC floor, it is not necessary to use a subfloor. You can care about this when purchasing in costs. That's great!
More space in the house
Do you choose to only use a floor heating? By placing a floor heating in the house, there is suddenly more living space left due to the lack of radiators on the wall. More space for that beautiful sofa or side table that you have in mind.
Saving on energy bills
Because the PVC floor allows the heat that a floor heating to pass well and quickly, it is possible to heat the house faster and with less effort. You will start to notice this on the energy bill in the long term. After all, the heating does not have to work hard to reach a certain temperature in the relevant living space.
